The Institution of Engineers (India) inaugurated its new Centre in Tamil Nadu, the IE(I) Kattankulathur Local Centre, during its Centenary Year on December 2, 2019. The inauguration took place at the Dr. T.P. Ganesan Auditorium, Mini Hall - I, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, with Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, FIE, Founder Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology and Member of Parliament, gracing the occasion. This center marked the 17th Local Centre under the Tamil Nadu State Centre. The event commenced with a prayer song followed by the lighting of the lamp, symbolizing Indian culture. Er. R. Ramdoss, FIE, Chairman, IE(I), Tamil Nadu State Centre, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honor, and attendees. Maj Gen (Dr) S. Bhattacharya, VSM (Retd), Secretary and Director General, IE(I), presented the establishment warrant to Dr. P. T. Ravichandran, FIE, Chairman, IE(I), Kattankulathur Local Centre. Special addresses were delivered by Dr. Sandeep Sancheti, Vice Chancellor, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, and Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, FIE. Dr. T. M. Gunaraja, FIE, President, IE(I), inaugurated the IE(I), Kattankulathur Local Centre. The inauguration was attended by various dignitaries including Prof. Dr. T. P. Ganesan, Pro Vice Chancellor (P&D), Prof. Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Director (E&T), and representatives from other Local Centres, directors, deans, heads of departments from SRMIST, and members of the Kattankulathur Local Centre. Dr. S. Dhanalakshmi, FIE, Honorary Secretary, IE(I), Kattankulathur Local Centre, concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
